One of our Rome Italy apartments with pool. In many ways more comfortable than apartments in Rome centre. The Pink House is in the gardens, sleeps 4-6 (with the annex). Sat-Sat weekly rentals. Boules pitch too. Easy access to coast, Florence, Pompeii... Not forgetting very easy access to Rome's antiquities of course!
The
Pink House is the largest
of three garden flats in the back of our rome countryside villa looking west across the garden,
pool and the valley to the medieval hill town of Castelnuovo di
Porto, 28km north of Rome: "the Eternal City". See Pictures of the
apartment's Photos.
The villa is ideally situated permitting guests to relax and
enjoy the pool -side comforts in a country
setting while a short drive away there is the magnificence of rome such as the Colosseum and the
splendour of St. Peters
Basilica.
In
a somewhat secluded position of the garden, away from the main villa and
accessed by a pathway from the parking area or pool. This recently renovated
self-catering apartment looks out through the trees and across the valley to the
old town of Castelnuovo. With a double bedroom, a further smaller bedroom (bunk
beds) and a bathroom with shower it comfortably accommodates four people.
The
living room with the fireplace leads on to the live-in kitchen/dining room where
french doors open onto a spacious private terrace with view across the valley to
a Medieval village. The terrace has a pergola near the barbecue, dining table
& chairs, deck chairs, as well as an umbrella for those who like extra
shade.
The furnishings of this Rome holiday apartment are modern with a touch of the antique here and there, making the apartment appealing while offering modern comforts.
A
few steps lead up to the main garden level and the pool where a larger terrace
is furnished with table, chairs and sun loungers.
The apartment also has a small annex, one level down and independent, consisting of a double bedroom with bathroom, small cookery corner and its own little patio in the shade of the mulberry tree. This allows accommodation for a total of six people if required.

The old town of Castelnuovo is the typical medieval hill-top village. It offers visitors the
opportunity to step into the past and enjoy the fascination of the
ages along winding cobbled streets with
their variety of doorways, arches, flower pots and unexpected views.
All amenities are available in the town and a market is held on Tuesdays. Eating out is simply a question of choosing from the many pizzerias, trattorias and restaurants in the area and Castelnuovo boasts the best fresh ice-cream parlour for miles, complete with view over to the Sabine hills!
The antiquities are an easy 35-40 minutes drive or train ride away. In rome, there is a great underground car park which allows you to walk out directly to Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish steps. To help organise your stay, we have collected a number of useful internet links "Inside rome".
Florence, Assisi, Perugia, Pompeii etc are all within range to go for day trips (but I assure you that between Rome and the local area there is enough to see for a month if not more!)
The Mediterranean coast, Tivoli (Villa dEste and Hadrians villa) as well as the lakes of Bracciano and Vico are all within one hours drive. In the more immediate vicinity there are also many places of artistic, historical and archeological interest (such as the Roman town of Lucus Feroniae) and the nature reserve of Valle della Treia irresistible for artist and photographer.
We have a friendly agreement with the Golf course called "Arco di Costantino" only just up the road (my sister is a member). It has both an 18 holes course and a 9 holes for non handicap players . Another two courses are also within easy reach. Their web site is in Italian but don't let that distract you: there are some great graphics to show you the course lay out hole by hole.
Use of the pool cannot be guaranteed before mid-May and will last as long as
the good weather permits, generally October.
This apartment is not suitable for small children. You might consider the other apartment - Romulus.
A car is necessary as the local train station is a couple of miles away, in the village. There are also bus services but they do not stop immediately by the villa. The train will be in rome (near the Spanish steps, so to speak) within about 35 minutes so you can quite quickly rush back for that last evening swim in the pool after a hot day touring the antiquities.
