Valentano is
of very ancient origins and can be traced back to the Etruscan period (approx
700BC) during which period it is believed to have been the site at which the
different city-states such as Tarquinia and Vulci met. The city was subsequently
subjected to Roman domination.
The current village is clearly of mediaeval structure and still conserves its original splendour. It is on a high promontory, built on the basaltic rock of volcanic origin which surrounds lake Bolsena.
The wooded area to be used for this project is extremely beautiful, offering a panorama of nature and sun. It is approximately 250m above and 2km away from lake Bolsena. It is also some 550m above sea level and some 28km from the coast (Marina di Montalto di Castro). Rome is approximately 105km away whilst Viterbo approximately 28km.
The area local to the site includes existing holiday housing complete with services and a fully functioning hypermarket which functions all year round offering pizzeria, bar&ice cream parlour, news agents, fruit and vegetables, butchers, general food, hairdressers, beauty parlour etc.
The area is also well known for its apparently curative natural water springs, for the healthy air tempered by the nearby lake, its archaeological and nature sites as well as the local production of Extra Virgin olive oil and wines. The lake is known for the cleanliness of its waters as well as for the range of amenities available including sailing, canoeing and other such activities.

This map shows the area surrounding Valentano and Lake Bolsena,
including the major urban centres such as Rome to the south, which is one and a
half hours away, Viterbo is half an hour, Orvieto is some 45mins of beautiful
country roads. Perugia, Assisi, Siena, Pisa and many other places are easily
reached. Florence is just off the map to the north and is two hours away. The
coast is at the doorstep.
