This
Venice apartment for 4 people is situated by a small canal in
the ancient area sestiere di San Polo. The apartment is very
central and you can easily walk to most of the famous sites of Venice. However,
a trip down the canals with a Vaporetto bus is
always worth the experience and the photos you can take.

The
apartment is accessed through a
common entrance hall on the ground level, followed by a private entrance hall, cloak room,
stairs to the first floor,
bathroom, double bedroom, large sitting room (with double sofa bed) and kitchen.
The bedroom window looks onto Canale delle Erbe. There is also an entrance from
the canal through the characteristic water gate - little used but fascinating.. Pictures of the apartment.
The wooden beams and original brick-work give that venetian feeling - inside and out!
The building was the dependance of
the Palazzo Marcello Grimaldi and is reached through Campiello delle Erbe
(a "Campiello" being a small pedestrian square). Being in a cul de sac
the apartment is also peaceful.
Shops are near by at the unusually large square of Campo San Polo (large by Venice
standards!). The Canal
Grande is very close to the apartment and the famous St. Mark's square can be
reached in a matter of minutes by crossing the Rialto bridge (where you could
get waylaid by the wonderfully colourful market). Even closer is the splendid
church of the Frari and the ancient venetian School of San Rocco - a wealth of
history, architecture and art, where the likes of Tintoretto and Titian abound
and every stone tells a story.

The ancient city Republic of Venice La
Serenissima needs little introduction. It should suffice to say that the flat is very
central and guests certainly have the opportunity to see Venice
in comfort from the 'inside',
shielded from the noise of the
vaporetti buses and water traffic present on the Canal Grande.

When
we last went the Vaporetto bus along the Canal
Grande cost us in the region of Euro.6 a ticket. A 3 day ticket costs Euro.30
and is worth while - it's so easy to hop on and off the vaporetto and go all
over! A water taxi cost in the region of 60 Euro
and half an hours' Gondola ride somewhat more (but exciting). However,
there's a lot to be said for just wandering round, too!
Prices per week inclusive of linen, utilities and initial cleaning
