It looks west across the garden, pool and the valley to the medieval hill town of Castelnuovo di Porto, 28km north of Rome: "the Eternal City".

Rome apartments all the way to the Colosseum! The villa is ideally situated, permitting guests to relax and enjoy the pool-side comforts in a semi-rural setting while a short drive away there is the magnificence of rome with the Colosseum and the splendour of St. Peter’s Basilica.

The apartment ‘Romulus’ has two bedrooms, one spacious double room and one smaller with two single beds, living room, kitchen and bathroom with shower. See picture page.

The apartment is fully furnished. Furnishings are of good quality, there is satellite tv, dishwasher and the kitchen is fully equipped with complete sets of all utensils and kitchen ware.

The local area near the Romulus apartment

Rome apartments rental - Romulus - The Local Area

The old town of Castelnuovo is the typical medieval hill-top village. It offers visitors the Rome countryside village view opportunity to step into the past and enjoy the fascination of the ages along winding cobbled streets with their variety of doorways, arches, flower pots and unexpected views.

All amenities are available in the town and a market is held on Tuesdays. Eating out is simply a question of choosing from the many pizzerias, trattorias and restaurants in the area and Castelnuovo boasts the best fresh ice-cream parlour for miles, complete with view over to the Sabine hills!

Roma caput mundi! The "Romulus" apartment rental and the eternal city

The antiquities are an easy 35-40 minutes drive or train ride away. In rome, there is a very central underground car park which allows you to walk out directly to Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish steps. To help organise your stay, we have collected a number of useful internet links "Inside rome".

Want a change from Rome?

Florence, Assisi, Perugia, Pompeii etc are all within range to go for day trips (but I assure you that between Rome and the local area there is enough to see for a month if not more!)

The Mediterranean coast, Tivoli (Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s villa) as well as the lakes of Bracciano and Vico are all within one hour’s drive. In the more immediate vicinity there are also many places of artistic, historical and archeological interest (such as the Roman town of Lucus Feroniae) and the nature reserve of Valle della Treia – irresistible for artist and photographer.

Golf near rome

We have a friendly agreement with the Golf course called "Arco di Costantino" only just up the road (my sister is a member). It has both an 18 holes course and a 9 holes for non handicap players . Another two courses are also within easy reach. Their web site is in Italian but don't let that distract you: there are some great graphics to show you the course lay out hole by hole.

Local Travel

A car is necessary as the local train station is a couple of miles away, in the village. There are also bus services but they do not stop immediately by the villa.

The train from Castelnuovo (free parking at the station) takes about 45mins right to the very centre of Rome, so you can quite easily return for that last evening swim in the pool after a hot day touring the antiquities. A very convenient option preferred by many of our guests is the park & ride facility half way to the city – very simple to drive to and more frequent trains.
