Getting places from the Rome apartment

The apartment is well-situated for visiting the rest of Rome and the Vatican. Piazza del Popolo is four bus stops down the Via Flaminia (passing the Etrusan museum at Villa Giulia and Bramante’s lovely little round renaissance church on the way) from where it is a short walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, etc. and the Metro station or the little electric buses which serve the rest of the city centre

In the immediate vicinty of the apartment there are also several places of interest such as the works of three of Italy’s most notable architects - the Flaminio covered stadium ‘Palazzetto dello Sport’, the new and splendid concert Auditorium and the Foro Italico international sports complex (tennis and athletics) with its magnificent marble statues .

About Ponte Milvio

A short walk in the other direction of this Rome apartment, there is the river Tiber and one of Rome’s loveliest and most ancient bridges, Ponte Milvio (well worth a photo or two), originally built around 4/3^rd cent. Bc and where a few centuries later the Emperor Constantine won a famous battle against Maxentius conquering Rome for Christianity . Its monumental gateway was an 18^th cent. addition and although now a pedestrian area, until only a few years ago the bridge was still open to traffic.
